Some Assessors Viewpoints
I remember once asking a retired senior Army officer who had sat on the assessors’ side of the table for many a Defence tender. He said that even the big boys fell into the same trap. They all talked about themselves, and how good they were, how they were “unique” – they all claim to be unique. All were “ME-ME” tenders, more concerned about themselves than what Defence was trying to achieve.
Also to mind was a tender we won with the Commonwealth in the Health area for my wife’s business. At the initial committee meeting in Canberra I took the opportunity to ask them during the tea break what had set us apart in what was a national competition. Was it price? The answer surprised me. We were the only tenderer who had researched the background to the RFT and what the Commonwealth was trying to achieve.
